Parent Involvement & Learning Opportunity

  • Bondurant-Farrar parents and guardians are invited to attend our first ever UnConference for Parents on Monday, October 18, 2021 from 6:00-8:15pm at the Bondurant-Farrar High School. This event will provide parents and guardians with an opportunity to learn more about various school-related topics and ask questions in a small group setting.

    What is an UnConference?

The benefit of an UnConference approach is that learning opportunities are not limited to one topic or one guest speaker. Instead, multiple sessions on a variety of topics are offered. Attendees can choose what sessions they want to attend and individually build their own schedules. The UnConference will consist of a menu of 13 various topics that will be offered in three 40-minute time slots.

    What topics will be offered?

The district’s School Improvement Advisory Committee, which consists of parents, board members, and staff, brainstormed topic ideas that they identified to be beneficial and helpful for families. The final list of topics and session descriptions is included below. The unconference will consist of a menu of topics that will be offered in three 40-minute sessions.

    What’s the backstory?

The idea started 6 years ago when the UnConference approach was incorporated into professional development opportunities for Bondurant-Farrar teachers and paraprofessionals. This year, the district is taking it a step further by offering a parent version. We hope you consider attending this learning and involvement opportunity.
