Let's Chat, Bluejays! Join the Conversation
Let’s Chat, Bluejays! is a new opportunity for families and community members to sit down with district leaders, ask questions, and talk through a variety of school-related topics.
Each 45-minute session focuses on a specific area of interest, followed by open conversation and Q&A. These meetings are held in person at the District Office, with a virtual option available for those who prefer to join remotely.
The series kicked off this week on December 3-4. We’ll continue again in early January with a new topic and another opportunity to connect directly with district leadership. See below for more details!
Recap from this Week:
This week’s sessions highlighted our new elementary school planning and future strategies to improve traffic flow and student safety. If you weren’t able to attend, you can review the information at your convenience.

Introducing the Bluejay Briefings Video Series
We’re excited to launch Bluejay Briefings, a new series of quick, 2–3 minute videos designed to keep our community up to date on district news and initiatives. Each episode features short, Q&A-style updates directly from district leaders.
Episode 1 highlights the new PK–K elementary school opening in Fall 2027, including who it will serve, how grade configurations will shift, and what families can expect next. Watch Episode 1 here or view it directly below!
Stay tuned for additional episodes throughout the year as we continue to share timely updates on district planning and initiatives.
School Board Transitions & Leadership Updates
We’re grateful for the individuals who volunteer their time to serve on the Bondurant-Farrar Board of Education. At the November 24 meeting, the board recognized outgoing service, welcomed a new member, and selected its officers for the coming year. Below are a few highlights from this transition.

Garry Lenhart was recognized for his eight years of service on the Bondurant-Farrar Board of Education. We appreciate his commitment to our students, staff, and community, and thank him for the time and care he has dedicated throughout his tenure.

Jill Padgett was elected to the Bondurant-Farrar Board of Education on November 4. We’re grateful for her willingness to serve and look forward to the perspective and support she will bring to our students, staff, and community.

Patrick Meyer was re-elected on November 4 and sworn in as board president at the November 24 meeting. We appreciate his continued leadership and the steady support he brings to our district and families.
Winter Weather Updates & School Closings
As winter settles in, we want families to know how decisions are made and how updates will be shared.

Weather Closures & Delays:
Decisions are based on several factors, including road conditions, temperatures, building accessibility, and the predicted forecast. We also stay in contact with area superintendents to help guide our decision-making.
Direct Notifications to Staff & Families:
If school is delayed, dismissed early, or closed, staff and families will receive a call, email, and text through Infinite Campus. Updates are also shared on district social media and with local news outlets.
Please make sure your Infinite Campus contact information is up-to-date, and have a plan ready for late starts, early dismissals, or closures. For assistance updating contact information via Infinite Campus, please contact your child's school office.
Academic Calendar Set for 2026-2027
The 2026-27 academic calendar was approved by the Bondurant-Farrar Board of Education at their meeting on November 24. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback throughout this process. We appreciate your participation and input.

Education Foundation Giving Campaign through December 12
This season, Bondurant-Farrar staff are partnering with the Bondurant-Farrar Education Foundation to support three organizations that provide meaningful help to members of our community.
This year’s giving drive will benefit:
- Children’s Cancer Connection, which supports families affected by childhood cancer
- Mary Sauter’s Pay It Forward, a local effort focused on helping families through acts of kindness
- The Counselor Discretionary Fund, which allows our counselors and social worker to offer direct support to Bluejay students and families when unexpected needs arise
Donations will be accepted through December 12, and we welcome anyone who wants to join the effort.
