Expanding Student Involvement in Active Threat Drills:

Just as we regularly practice fire and tornado drills, the district is expanding student involvement in age-appropriate safety drills to help build familiarity and awareness.

We sit down with two members of our safety committee to talk about why this step matters, what students will experience, and how we are working to ensure every drill is handled in a calm, structured, and supportive way.

Parking Expansion Planned for Summer 2026

A parking expansion project between the junior high and high school is set to begin this summer. The work will include phases 1 and 2 identified on the map, with a potential phase 3 planned for the future.

Phase 1 will add parking in the area where buses currently stage for morning drop-off and pick-up. As part of this update, the bus line will be relocated to the east side of the junior high.

The additional parking will support both daily use and event traffic for the stadium and new baseball and softball complex.

Bondurant-Farrar’s summer camp sessions are back for 2026! Open to Bluejay students, each camp is led by a BFCSD educator and designed to spark creativity and imagination.

Registration is tentatively scheduled to open at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 1 and will be completed through Bound this year. If anything changes, buildings will share updates directly with families.

Sessions are organized by next year's grade level (listed next to each title). For example, a camp labeled grades 5-8 is for students entering grades 5-8 next school year. Camps are $85 per session, with financial assistance available.

Check out session offerings and the camp schedule today to start making your summer plans for 2026!

Radon Testing Results: Buildings Within Safe Levels

Bondurant-Farrar recently completed radon testing at Morris Elementary, Bondurant-Farrar High School, and the Alternative Building. We’re happy to share that all results came back below the EPA’s recommended action level, meaning our buildings are in the clear and continue to provide safe learning environments for students and staff.

Thank you to staff members James Sannon, Mike Tenckinck, Mark Hetrick, Jessica Doyle, and Dustin Gean for their work in coordinating and completing this testing.

Radon is a naturally occurring gas that cannot be seen or smelled and is commonly found in buildings. As part of Iowa requirements, all district buildings are tested on a five-year rotation cycle to help ensure safe indoor air quality.

Next year, testing will continue at Anderson Elementary, the Intermediate School, and the Transportation Facility as part of our ongoing schedule.
