Summer Food Assistance
Some Bondurant-Farrar families may find it difficult to ensure their children have access to nutritious meals during summer months while school-provided meals are not available. For those experiencing food insecurity, this period can be a challenge.
A variety of summer food assistance options are available to bridge this gap, with several resources in our school district and locally offering support to ensure that no child goes hungry during these months.
Summer Meal Locations
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a federally-funded, state-administered program that ensures children have access to nutritious meals and snacks when school is not in session. Children up through the age of 18 can get the nutrition they need through designated summer meal sites, at no cost to them or their families.Find the nearest summer meal site by calling 2-1-1, 1-866-348-6479 for English or 1-877-842-6273 for Spanish or by clicking here to view the interactive map.
District Food Pantry
Our district food pantry will be open several times throughout the summer for all Bondurant-Farrar students and families. This initiative aims to ensure that all Bluejay students and their families have access to nutritious food during summer break.
The district food pantry is located at the Bondurant-Farrar Junior High (1201 Grant Street North, Bondurant) and staffed from noon-4pm on the following dates: June 12, July 10, July 24, and August 6.
