Naming Our New Elementary

Honors the region’s native prairie landscape, including the tallgrass prairies that once covered much of Iowa. The name reflects the natural environment and represents growth, resilience, and strong roots, qualities that mirror the development of our Bluejay students and the strength of our community.

Connects directly to the district’s Bluejay mascot. The tailfeather represents pride, identity, and school spirit, while also symbolizing strength and unity. The name creates a unique and memorable connection to the Bluejay tradition and reflects the sense of belonging shared across our schools and community.

Reflects Bondurant’s agricultural roots and acknowledges the previous use of the land where the school is being built. The name also connects to the nearby Grain District and Silo Commons developments planned by the City of Bondurant.

Harvest represents growth, hard work, and the results of a shared effort. Harvest Crossing also provides a subtle nod to the railroad history that helped shape the community, something reflected in the school’s design, which draws inspiration from a railroad switchboard layout.
