Superintendent's Office
Under the direction of the Bondurant-Farrar Board of Education and its policies, the Superintendent of Schools is responsible for the operation, administration, and leadership of the school district, including the district’s curriculum, personnel, programs, and buildings. The superintendent reports to the board of education and serves as the community’s liaison to the board of education.
Dr. Rich Powers became the district's superintendent in July 2014. Before that, he was the principal at Cedar Falls High School. He started his teaching career as a technology teacher at Rolling Meadows High School in Illinois. Dr. Powers has also worked as a department chair, dean of students, and assistant principal in Illinois. He has coached football, wrestling, and robotics.
Dr. Powers earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Northern Iowa. He later received his administrative certification from National-Louis University and a Doctorate of Education from Loyola University in Chicago.
Superintendent Powers enjoys connecting with residents and families on important district topics and welcomes community involvement and participation. He is a member of several groups, like the School Administrators of Iowa and the American Association of School Administrators. Powers is also active in the local community through a variety of organizations.
