Preschool Program

Due to limited space, preschool enrollment is determined through a lottery system. Families must submit a lottery application to place their child on the list for program consideration. Preschool applications are being accepted January 13 through February 28, 2025.

4 Year Old Preschool Lottery Application

Thank you for your interest in the Bluejay Beginnings Preschool Program! This program is designed for children aged 3 and 4 and is open to all families, regardless of background or disability. Our preschool offers students the chance to interact with peers, build social skills, experience structured routines, explore learning through music and movement, and develop pre-literacy and math skills—all within a supportive early childhood environment.

Eligibility

• Children must be 3 years old on or before September 15 of the current school year to enroll in the 3-year-old program.
• Children must be 4 years old on or before September 15 of the current school year to enroll in the 4-year-old program.
• Enrollment is open to students residing within the Bondurant-Farrar School District boundaries.

Tuition

• 4-Year-Old Program: No tuition costs, as funding is covered through the Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program.
• 3-Year-Old Program: No tuition costs, with funding provided through the ECI (Early Childhood Iowa) Grant and the Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program.

Families applying for the 3-year-old program who meet federal income eligibility guidelines may apply for ECI grant funding during registration. Approved families receive higher priority within the enrollment lottery. Please ensure all required paperwork is submitted to qualify for this funding and priority consideration.

Lottery Application

Due to limited space, Bluejay Beginnings Preschool uses a lottery system for enrollment. Parents/guardians must submit a lottery application to the district registrar to place their child on the list for program consideration. Lottery applications for the 2024-25 school year opened in January 2024, with the drawing held in March. Families were notified of acceptance shortly after.

Priority placement is given to special education and at-risk students, as well as low-income families who qualify for ECI grant funding based on federal income guidelines. Once accepted, families have two weeks to complete the official registration to secure their child’s spot. Children enrolled in the 3-year-old program are guaranteed a spot in the 4-year-old program the following year if they apply on time.
