Director of Facilities
Dave Walker serves in a dual role at Bondurant-Farrar Schools as the Director of Nutrition and the Director of Facilities. As the Director of Nutrition he meets all State and Federal regulations serving healthy and appetizing meals to students. As the Director of Facilities, Mr. Walker is responsible for overseeing the custodial, maintenance and outdoor crews, operations including long term planning, day to day operations and managing personnel in both departments. This position reports directly to the Director of Administrative Services.
Dave Walker started with the district in November of 2013. Prior to working at Bondurant, Dave worked 10 years with a Regional Hotel Corporation starting as a chef until he left that company in 1996 as General Manager. Dave spent 15 years working for Compass Group primarily as District Manager overseeing several local Business and Industry Cafeterias. He was at Mercy Hospital West Lakes for 5 years before joining the Bondurant staff in 2013.
Dave is a graduate of the Kirkwood Community College Restaurant and Culinary Management Program. He has had professional training at the Culinary Institute of America in Poughkeepsie, New York and Napa Valley, California. He has earned certifications as a Certified Food and Beverage Director, Certified Hotel Manager and is a Certified Dietary Manager with Association of Nutrition and Food Safety Professionals. Dave is a member of the School Facilities Management and School Nutrition Association.
Dave and his wife, Terri, of 31 years have lived in Altoona/Bondurant area for 26 years. They have two children. His son Zach is an ISU graduate and a canine police officer in Newton, IA. His daughter Becca is a UNI graduate and works for Advantage Farm Services in Eldora, IA. One of Dave's favorite companions is his golden retriever, Johnny.
