School Board Elections
The Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) and the Bondurant-Farrar Community School District (BFCSD) encourages those passionate about education to consider running in the November 5 school board elections. Public schools need strong leadership and governance to ensure a bright future for all children and communities across the state.
Strong leadership is critical to moving education forward in our district. School board members play significant roles in our community – they must have leadership, vision, and dedication. They are charged with accountability for student learning, determining educational goals, setting policy, overseeing school finances and more.
This year, BFCSD has three seats up for election on November 5, 2019. Nomination forms for school board seats can be filed with the district’s administration office between August 26 and September 19 at 5PM. In order to receive this paperwork and ensure documents have been completed correctly, we ask interested candidates to call the district office at 515-967-7819 to schedule an appointment with our School Board Secretary.
The district is hosting an informational candidate meeting for those interested in school board candidacy on Wednesday, September 4 from 5-6PM in the district office. Attendees can expect to learn more about the duties, responsibilities, and expectations of school board members, as well as additional information regarding the election process. If you plan to attend this meeting, please RSVP by phone at 515-967-7819 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are interested in school board candidacy but unable to attend, please contact us to arrange another time to meet with Superintendent Powers.
All key dates and deadlines, as well as additional information and frequently asked questions, can be found online through the IASB website at www.ia-sb.org/getonboard.
