Calling All Bluejay Artists

Bluejay logo iconAugust 30, 2023

The Bondurant-Farrar Community School District is seeking former graduates and current students who are interested in creating a graphic that would be used to visually represent the district’s Portrait of a Graduate project.

The purpose of this graphic is to depict core characteristics and competencies of Bluejay students, with the chosen graphic to be displayed throughout the district and visible to students, staff, families, and community members for years to come.

The Backstory:

Over the past year and half, the school district has worked with community members, business leaders, nonprofit leaders, parents, students and teachers to identify the essential elements that students will need as they graduate and embark on their next chapter. It is meant to be a collective vision for our students, and by creating this shared vision it will ensure that all stakeholders are able to work together to create learning experiences for students that will lead students toward that vision. This work requires all educators to take an active role to ensure our students gain the knowledge, skills, and traits to be choice ready for life’s multiple pathways.

In June, the school board adopted the following competencies to be what we strive for our students by the time they graduate. The school district is continuing to work throughout this year to design how this will look as well as to celebrate the great elements that fall in line with these competencies. The board approved competencies for Bondurant-Farrar are identified below.

Bluejays are:

    • Communicators
    • Critical Thinkers
    • Resilient
    • Emotionally Intelligent
    • Globally Minded

The Request:

We are seeking former graduates and current students who are interested in creating a graphic that combines the above bolded words. We believe that Bondurant-Farrar has had and continues to have a number of excellent artists who would be able to showcase their skills and talents with this project. (Current employees are exempt from this opportunity.)
