  • Safety In Our Schools

Report safety concerns onlineSchool safety is a top priority at Bondurant-Farrar. Many precautions are in place to keep our students and staff safe. Our emergency preparedness committee meets monthly to review current practices and consider revisions and improvements to these efforts.

Steps being taken by the committee:

    • Review of the district’s existing Emergency Operations Plan with proposed updates to be presented to the board at a future date.
    • Safety audits provided by the State of Iowa are scheduled to take place in each of our school buildings in early November.
    • Representatives from each building recently participated in an off-campus school safety training.
    • Exploring tools that improve connectivity and staff access to emergency plans.

Additionally, the district utilizes an electronic reporting tool that is designed to help students, parents, and community members report past, present, and possible threats to and within our school community. This tool can be found on our district website as well as within the quick links section of each school’s webpage.

  • Setting Up Notifications & Payment of School Meals

activate low balance notifications for mealsThere have been updates within RevTrak that have changed the way school fees are paid. In the past, when your family account dropped below a certain dollar amount, our system would send an automated email alerting you of this. This year, families need to activate that function in order to receive notifications.

Families may be eligible for free or reduced-priced meals based on household income. Applications are available online at www.bfschools.org/Page/1128

If you experience difficulty or have additional questions, please contact the Bondurant-Farrar District Office at 515-967-7819 or email millerk@bfschools.org.

  • The Messages Behind Morning Meetings

Student interacting with teacher during morning meetingYou may have heard your child talk about morning meetings, but do you know what they entail or the positive impacts they have?

Through this daily routine, students develop important social and emotional skills by actively engaging with one another, naturally building a sense of community within their classrooms.

Each year, Bondurant-Farrar teachers see their students develop through this practice.

We recently visited Miss Garton's first grade classroom at Morris Elementary to get an inside look into this daily routine. Click here to learn more! Click here to learn more about morning meetings.
