Board Highlights from the May 22 Meeting

Meeting Highlights: 

• Representatives from the Portrait of a Graduate design team provided an update on the status of their process, the key competencies identified, and next steps in the overall rollout.
• Received updates from three superintendent advisory committees - infrastructure, communication, and finance.
• Approved the first reading of a number of board policies.
• Approved an expansion to the south parking lot of the high school, creating over 25 additional parking spaces. 
• Discussed a recent parent meeting, follow-up plans, and parent involvement opportunities currently available.

Congratulations, Bluejay Graduates

On May 21, students of the Class of 2023 participated in a commencement ceremony to celebrate their accomplishments and the culmination of their academic career at Bondurant-Farrar. Please join us in congratulating the over 170 students in this year’s graduating class. We wish them all the best!

Free Summer Meal Locations Near You

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a federally-funded, state-administered program that ensures children have access to nutritious meals and snacks when school is not in session. These meals help ensure kids can still get the nutritious food they may need throughout the summer months.

The meals are only available for children 18 years of age and younger and must be consumed on-site. Two meal sites are located in Altoona, with numerous others throughout the Des Moines Metro area.

We're Here To Assist Throughout The Summer

Beginning June 5, all offices will be open weekly Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 3:00pm. Friday morning hours are available by appointment only.

Individuals who need assistance outside these hours may call or email to request availability.

If you are planning to stop into one of our offices during the summer months, regardless of the day of the week, we recommend calling ahead to ensure we are open and the appropriate staff member is available to assist. Summer office hours will be in effect through August 4. On August 7, offices will return to normal hours of 7:30am-4:00pm.
